The drainage and sewerage work projects of Cuttack, Bhubaneswar city, undertaken by a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), going on for last five years would be completed in September 2018. This is informed by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi in a Standing Committee of Odisha Assembly on Tuesday.
The Standing Committee comprising nine MLAs, including local legislator Pravat Biswal, also reviewed the progress of certain other ongoing projects in the district including a Railway over bridge and an underpass of the National Highway passing through the city.
The project work has also damaged the underground drinking water pipes at many places thereby hampering the supply of potable water.
As per the information, only 55% works has been completed in both of the city.
JIKA provided over Rs 2,291 crore for Odisha Integrated Sanitation Improvement Project.
