CM Naveen Patnaik paid tributes to legendary Biju Patnaik on his death anniversary this morning. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is observing former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik’s 20th death anniversary on April 17 in a grand way by organising Jiban Bindu programme at the state, district and block levels.
Several statewide programmes are also scheduled to be held by the Party in massive scale.
The ruling BJD has planned a statewide observation of the 20th death anniversary of legendary leader Biju Patnaik. The BJD, named after Biju Patnaik, has also decided to organise meetings in all gram panchayats, blocks and district headquarters in memory of the leader, considered as the architect of modern Odisha, the sources said.
World renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik paid tribute to legendary Biju Patnaik on his death anniversary by creating a sand art requesting Bharat Ratna for him.
Bijayananda Patnaik, popularly known as Biju Patnaik who died on April 17, 1997, was born at Cuttack on March 5, 1926.
After working as a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force, he joined india’s freedom struggle and participated in electoral politics after independence. He served as the Chief Minister of Odisha for two terms and is also revered by many in Odisha as Sher-e-Utkal ( Lion of Odisha)
He is also known for his contribution for Indonesia’s freedom movement.
