A city based photographer’s association, Tilted Lens Group, has come up with a novel enterprise for their 2017 calendar project. Their focus was to feature burning social issues in a calendar so as to spread awareness.
Titled “Srijan”, the calendar presents models dressed as elements such as fire and angels depicting issues such as acid attack, dowry, harassment, environment pollution, religious superstitions and beliefs, and obsession towards social media among others.
The calendar was released in December at an event in Bhubaneswar. “We choose some of the prominent social issues on the basis of their portrayal in a more creative way. We had to drop some good ideas because it was difficult for us to be creative with them,” said Shaswat Sarangi, founder and creative director of the group.
The models featured in it are actors from Odia film industry. The idea behind this novel project was to let people know about the creative side of photography. The group took almost four months to prepare this total project and informed that they have printed 1000 copies for the distribution and gifting. Mr. Durga Madhab taken the big responsibility of photography for this calender project and also he is the co-founder of Tilted Lens Group.
The group believes that photography is not all about nature, science, beauty and fashion. “We are not professional photographers. But we practice it out of passion. We want to tell everyone that this art is an expression, a medium to tell stories,” said Aman Agarwal an entrepreneur of this group.
