Amit Masurkar’s Hindi film “Newton” has been selected for the prestigious Oscars race. The National Award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao plays the lead in this drama.
The Film Federation Of India (FFI), in an official statement on Friday confirmed the nomination. It was unanimously chosen from 26 entries this year.
The Hindi movie was the unanimous choice of FFI’s selection committee, headed by Telugu producer C V Reddy.
The film also stars Anjali Patil, Pankaj Tripathi and veteran thespian Raghubir Yadav of ‘Mungeri Lal’ fame.
Newton has won many nominations and acclaim all over the world including Berlin, Tribeca, Edinburgh, Jerusalem, Istanbul and Buenos Aires. The film also won the prestigious ‘Jury Prize’ at Hong Kong and the CICAE Art Cinema Award at Berlin.
