Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today (September 4) inaugurated Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) in Koraput.
After its inauguration, it became the fourth State-run medical college and hospital in addition to the old ones like Cuttack SCB, Bural VIMSAR and Berhampur MKCG.
After a gap of more than 50 years, a medical college and hospital added in the list of Government sector.
While 100 MBBS students have taken admission in the first year, the classes will commence from tomorrow coinciding with Teacher’s Day. As many as 22 professors and 28 assistant professors have been recruited at the institute to impart education.
The new SLN medical college and hospital would provide the health care requirements of the people in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada districts and adjoining areas in the region.
Apart from chief minister, state health minister Pratap Jena, SC & ST affairs minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, MP Jhinna Hikaka also presented in this inaugural function.
