27 years ago on December 20, 1991, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt’s Sadak was released and the movie was a super hit and got positive responses from the box-office too. Its sequel, Sadak 2, is coming very soon and it has already locked 31st August as its release date.
For Sadak 2, Sanjay returns as Ravi, the taxi driver who saved Pooja from the clutches of brothel owner Maharani. Actress Pooja Bhatt, who has been maintaining a distance from films as far as acting is concerned, will return to repeat her character. The movie to star a young couple who are yet to be cast.
Mahesh Bhatt, who helmed the original film, has been working on the story for three months. Talking about Sanjay and his character in the film, the veteran filmmaker says, “Sanjay who was 32 when we made the original, comesback as a 54-year-old Ravi into the 21st-century world that is collapsing in front of his eyes, where the distinction between the house and the Sadak is fast disappearing. The story has the emotional connect of the films I made back in the 90s which brought a lump to the throats of the viewer. I could see that in the reaction of those present at the narration. They were visibly moved,” he smiles with satisfaction.
