The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) appointed former India opening batsman Shiv Sundar Das as the coach of the Odisha cricket team. It was declared on Thursday that he will be the chief coach of state’s senior and Ranji team.
He replaced former India fast bowler Debasish Mohanty, who was the coach of state cricket team since January 2011 after succeeding Australia’s Michael Bevan.
Sources said, “Debasish had earlier expressed wish to leave the post because of some personal reasons”.
Shiv Sundar Das played to represent India in 23 Tests and compiled 1,326 runs at an average of 34.89. He scored two hundreds for his country in the longest format of the game.
The Odisha Cricket Association at its working committee meeting in Cuttack also named Suresh Kumar, Kulamani Parida and Subrat Behera as coaches of the Under-23, Under-19 and Under-16 men’s cricket teams respectively.
